Your Opportunity

The strategic importance of Global Practices to Stantec is emphasized in the way we are organized. Specifically, Global Practices reside in our Water Technology Group within our Water Business Operating Unit Line. The Practices are key to facilitating technology solutions, best practices, and quality assurance to deliver highest quality projects for our clients, and to support the nurturing and development of world-class technical talent. The Water Technology Group holds high visibility within Stantec, and our investments in these professionals are always carefully considered. This role is responsible for driving technology differentiation for Stantec through thought leadership. This differentiation is the platform for supporting our Market Sector Leaders (MSLs) in their role of setting the winning profile for our clients. The GPL position requires a degree of direct project involvement. The primary purpose here is that it sustains a level of technical competency within the GPL skillset that is expected and deserved by our clients. The building of the GPL neural network of professionals within the Stantec organization is critical to the sustainability and long-term success of our vision. Each GPL is responsible to lead the building of this network.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategy for compiling an industrial water knowledge database (i.e., personnel, levels of expertise, technologies and technology specialists, etc.)

  • Develop and implement a strategy for industrial water best practices for design

  • Develop and implement a strategy for positioning Stantec in the industrial water reuse design, construction, operational and public policy market space

  • Work with Stantec s Industrial Water Market Sector Lead to develop and implement a strategy for integrating Stantec s North America industrial water practice with Stantec s global partners

  • Develop and implement a strategy for building a global Industrial Water team via regional leaders and neural networks of professionals across all geographic regions and globally

  • Recruit, train, and develop talent in the industrial water space consistent with the goals and objectives of the Water Technology Group

  • Engage with local and regional business leaders to identify and pursue specific industrial water opportunities, and to build the awareness and utilization of the Industrial Water Practice in project execution

  • Develop and nurture client relationships across North America and around the world

  • Identify and pursue specific opportunities and clients in coordination with Stantec s other global operating groups, namely: United Kingdom, Europe-Africa, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East

  • Support delivery of industrial water projects around the world

  • Improve our Industrial Water Practice profile though continual learning, innovation, IP capture and re-use, knowledge sharing, and development/deployment of best practices

  • Engage in research through Stantec s Research Group by participating in research projects with Foundations, governmental and private research funding entities

  • Do what is best and right for Stantec and its clients

  • Education and Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor s degree in Engineering (Chemical or Environmental) from an accredited institution.

  • Professional Licensure

  • Minimum 20 years of related work or an equivalent combination of education (e.g., advanced degree) and experience. A minimum 10 - 15 years of experience executing technical aspects of a wide range of major and complex projects, including major Alternate Project Delivery (APD).

  • Working Conditions

    Ability to travel 50% of the time.
